Bright Colors vs. Muted Colors

Pictured above are two purple color chip cards from Pittsburgh Paints. The terms “bright colors” and “muted colors” are ways to classify different colors. The brighter hues tend to have very little white or black tints added. Brighter hues appear sharper and trendier and they often appeal to people who like to decorate more frequently. The shaded, muted colors have black and white pigments. They have a longer lasting, more classic appeal. Chip B36 has the muted colors, while Chip A35 has the brighter colors.
