This is the 1996 Historical Color Chart by Devoe Paint. Presenting a range of colors from the sturdy simplicity of the Colonial Style to the dramatic ornamentation of Gothic Revival style, these 27 tones represent some of the first colors available at the genesis of American house painting industry.

This Historical Paint Color Collection was inspired by a desire to create color schemes that connected with the beauty and character of historic and original American homes and vintage buildings. It provides homeowners, architects, and restoration professionals with a palette of historically accurate colors.
Devoe and Ameritone merged in 1997. Ameritone produced high quality architectural and decorative paints, while Devoe specialized in industrial and protective coatings. The merger allowed Devoe to offer a broad range of residential, commercial, industrial, and marine coatings. After the merger, these hues were available in both Ameritone and Devoe color collections.

1996 Devoe Interior Color Chart
You can see from this 1996 Devoe Interior Color chart the color styling of the mid 1990’s and how different it is from today. The ceilings were often painted with a 1/2 strength formula of the wall color. Trim and arches were accented in white. In today’s color schemes, the ceiling and all the wood trim would be the same color. Additionally, the arch would have been painted the yellow or blue of the adjacent walls, depending on the homeowner’s preference.
