Most Popular Front Door Color

According to a recent study by the Real Estate Company, Zillow, Charcoal is the most popular front door color. A front door is one of the first things a quest notices when visiting your home. A well maintained front door elevates your home’s aesthetic. It conveys a sense of warmth and welcome for guests and potential buyers.

The findings on color trends and their effect on home sales were based on more than 4,700 recent and prospective home buyers across the country. As for the methodology, each color received a score based on buyers’ perception of the home, the likelihood of touring the home, and the price they’d be willing to pay.

Paint is an affordable and easy improvement that provides a measurable impact on a buyer’s perception of the home. Zillow’s research found that homes with charcoal gray front doors can sell for an estimated $2,512 more than comparable homes. A dark gray front door can up the price by $1,755 or more.

Not all grays are created equal. Zillow found that mid-tone gray can hurt a home’s sale price when used on the front door. A cement gray front door was associated with offers estimated to be $3,365 less than a brighter or more neutral color.

Spring is peak home buying season, but high interest rates have many buyers sitting on the sidelines. Use this Benjamin Moore palette to find your favorite and most popular front door color that will increase your chances of a profitable sale.
